Hello.  We have just moved from Intralink 3.4 to Windchill 10.0.  We did this yesterday.  As expected, we are encountering some bumps in the road.  Most of our issues are because we are all learning a new system.  Overall, the system seems to be working the way it should, and we are just experiencing problems because we don't know what we're doing.

But we have one problem that we can't seem to overcome.  More than once, we've gotten errors when trying to upload a new object.  Here are the steps taken leading up to this:

We create a new .prt which has an associated .drw.  We are able to upload the .prt but are unable to upload the .drw file.  There is an error message saying "Upload failed.  See event manager for details."  Okay, so checking the event manager, I see that the error says "EPM Document Master - xxxxx.drw is not unique".  It sounds as though it thinks that an object with this name already exists in the database.  But that is definitely not the case.  I have searched, and there is nothing with this name.  The part number also includes a job number that is unique within our company, so I just know that there's nothing with this part number in the database already.  And it hasn't happened with one isolated item.  It has happened three times already in two days.  In all cases, we are able to upload the .prt file but got this error with the .drw file. 

Does anybody have any idea what this error means or how we can get past it?  We are a day and a half into our Windchill life, and other than this, things are going fairly smoothly.  But not being able to check in new drawings is a big deal!!  Help!!

I need to retrieve an attribute ("Operation") which which I have added to a Change Notice in a workflow expression - since the value of this attribute alters downstream activities.

So far I have got as far as:

wt.change2.WTChangeOrder2 co = (wt.change2.WTChangeOrder2)primaryBusinessObject;

String coOperation = ...

Also by using the above code, does it matter that I want to retrieve the attribute from a soft type of the change notice.

Any help would be great.

For Document management in Windchill, I am seeking input on when to use Primary vs. Secondary Content as well as Object naming, in general.  First, with regards to Object Naming, some are recommending we name a Document record 123TBD.docx while others recommend simply 123TBD (w/ no file extension).  Note the Primary Content in this example would be the 123TBD.doc.  Also, if there is a 123TBD.xls which supports this document some are recommending we include this as Secondary content while others recommend creating a 123TBD WT Part along with a 123TDB.xls document record and associate both the .doc and .xls objects to the WT Part.   Any thoughts on this subject are greatly appreciated.  Thank you in advance!

We are looking to get a program that our Tech. Publications can use to get different views of Parts and Assemblies for the Manuals.

I was looking at using Creo View for this but apparently you can't connect Creo View to Windchill.

So does anyone know what I can use to connect to Windchill and view our Cad Documents? I don't want to have to purchase a full blown Creo License for this simple task.

Hi, Good Day to all

I have a requirement for Customization of promotion request in WindChill 10.1 M030.

In a lifecycle while promoting the parts and documents from one stage to another stage, parent part and associated child parts can be in different stages.

At any given point of time child part or document should not be ahead of the parent stage.

I am facing some problems while development

• Code to get current life cycle
• Get the list of names of  all collected objects for promotion
• How to get parent part
• How to check is the child part or document is ahead of parent part stage in  a lifecycle.

Please provide me some solution.

Hi everyone..

While working on Windchill i found two differences.

on detail page of WTDocument, you will find the Attribute Table at bootom of page which listed all attributes related to documents ..Like "Created BY"

But when you try same thing with EPMDocument, you will see the Diffrence , you cant find the "Created By" filed in Attribute Table.

When i open Type and Attribute Manger, for both WTDoc and EPMDoc there is no Attribute "Created By" defined in Attribute List.

I tried to add this but i cant able to find the Attribute "Created By" Anywhere...

Anyone have Idea how to add " Created By " Attribute by Type and Attribute Manger.

Is this possible to add constraint to an attribute through program.

(ex. SingleValuedConstraint, LegalValueList)

I have created new Attributes on a Change Request and those are selectable as search criteria. When I create attributes on document they seem to be hit or miss when it comes to seeing them in the Advanced Search for that doc type?

What am I missing? I have created documents with those attributes selected.

Do they need to be indexed first?

1. Install Oracle 11 g as software only.

2. Windchill solution.

and I customization and convert 10-pre source.

next starting machine I start windchill by these steps.

1. start apache.

2. start Windchill method server these options are available in my start menu under Windchill 10 programme.

then server manger starts and trying to inovoke method server, method server apperas for few seconds and its stops with this message in method server log file which i pested bellow.

Please tell me what to do to error the Windchill 10.

I have an Excel macro doing a web query executing a Windchill report (query builder). The purpose is to download the dxf file attached to the drawing in an automated way. The problem is that Windchill does prompt the first time for credentials (login name and password). Is there a other way to give the credentials to Windchill ?

I need to retrieve an attribute ("Operation") which which I have added to a Change Notice in a workflow expression - since the value of this attribute alters downstream activities.

So far I have got as far as:

wt.change2.WTChangeOrder2 co = (wt.change2.WTChangeOrder2)primaryBusinessObject;

String coOperation = ...

Also by using the above code, does it matter that I want to retrieve the attribute from a soft type of the change notice.

Any help would be great.
